Dr Andreas Staab, Managing Director.
Andreas is a former lecturer in European Integration at the London School of Economics. Having left the LSE in 2000, he founded EPIC supported by a group of colleagues. Over the years, he has trained over 5000 people - from journalists and business people, to public officials, NGO representatives as well as high school and university students. He worked mainly in accession and candidate countries, including Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Serbia, Macedonia, Kosovo, Turkey, or Cyprus. His areas of expertise are EU policies, institutional relations, democracy and citizenship. Andreas is the author of a textbook on the EU, called 'The European Union Explained'; the third edition of which was published in June 2013. His most recent book is 'The End of Europe? the Five Dilemmas of the European Union' (2020).
Ian is our expert for cohesion and rural development. He is the founder of Catalys (one of our partner organiations), as well as the CEO of an environmental forestry NGO . He has over 25 years experience in rural, regional and environmental planning and development, as well as being a leading evaluation practitioner. Ian has worked on assignments in Croatia and was the team leader of a multi-annual project in Bosnia & Herzegovina.
Tony Bass
Tony is EPIC's expert in communication, public relations, lobbying and negotiations. He has held several positions within the Irish civil service, most prominently as Head of Communication during Ireland's presidency of the EU in 2004. He is also an Associate Professor at the College of Europe. tony has been a regular contributor to EPIC's summer school and has also worked on EPIC projects in Croatia and Montenegro
Damian is one of the world's leading scholars and experts on EU law. A former Professor at the London School of Economics and Director of the LSE's European Institute, he was also the co-editor of the journal European Law Review. He now resides at the National University in Singapore. With regards to EPIC, Damian has worked extensively with members of the legal profession in Cyprus.
Prof Bob Hancké
Bob is our expert on economic and monetary affairs, and an Associate Professor at the London School of Economics . He is also the Managing Director of a start-up consultancy called PEACS which helps organisations understand the political and institutional settings within which they operate. Bob has been a frequent speaker at EPIC's summer schools and also worked on assignments in Croatia and in Cyprus
Prof Martin Lodge
Martin provides his expertise on EU regulation and public administration. He is a Professor of Government at the London School of Economics and Director of the ESRC Centre for Analysis of Risk and Regulation (CARR). Martin has been involved in a number of EPIC projects, mainly in Croatia and in Cyprus.
Bruce Ross
Bruce manages the independent, Brussels-based, consultancy Ross Gordon Consultants, which specialises in the agriculture, food and forest industry sectors. It advises its clients on the future development of relevant EU policies and legislation. He was part of EPIC projects in Cyprus, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Croatia.
Prof Karen Smith
Karen is our foreign policy expert and a Professor of International Relations and Head of the IR Department at the London School of Economics and Political Science, and Director of the European Foreign Policy Unit (within the IR Department). She has worked on EPIc projects in Cyprus and Croatia.

Andrew Hadley, MBE
Andrew is our specialist for international projects and multi-lateral collaboration. He is the co-founder of CILL (Centre for International Learning and Leadership) which is one of EPIC's partner organisations. Previoulsy, he worked for 20 years for the British Council in Ethiopia, China, Greece and North Macedonia.
